Sarah, 28 year old Sales Manager, & Tarek, 24 year old Financial Officer, married at Govenors Beach, Limassol on the 22nd of June 2018.
There wasn’t really a theme, we just wanted the vibe to be filled with family and romance, very relaxed and fun. The colour theme was purple with a rustic vibe.
We met in 2013 through friends. Our mutual friend Georgie Savva and I had finished the gym and she wanted to see Tarek, so we popped round to another friend’s house straight after – sweat and all! We instantly had banter and I was instructed to add him on Facebook by Georgie, where we started to talk some more. After about 3-4 weeks he asked me on a date, which he turned up for in a suit and was a real gentleman.
It was meant to be a very causal relationship & I guess as we got to know each other we realised we liked each other a lot more than that, this was then emphasized with a big surprise in finding out we were expecting a baby.
On our wedding day we had been together 4 and a half years.
Tarek proposed to me at my favourite beach, Governors Beach on the long rock on the beach from Kalymnos Taverna. I had an incline as we had to drop our son off with my parents, knew he had the ring & he blindfolded me (LOL), but he covered it well with the story as we got there. He told me he wanted to take a picture and to walk to the top, as I turned around for the picture he was on one knee.
My engagement ring is beautiful, a solitaire diamond on a white gold band which has three diamond encrusted bands entwining into the one big diamond.
My dress was a bit of a mix, I always saw myself as being a princess but with the heat and the general relaxed vibe I didn’t feel it was the right setting.
I ordered my dress online then worked with a seamstress to totally re-create it into my dream.
It was an off white all lace gown with a semi cathedral train and a sweetheart neckline & low back, I then used vintage lace create off the shoulder straps.
I wore a floral pin in clip for my hair, a back-drop necklace which was diamonds going all the way to where my dress started, a Swarovski diamond bracelet which the groom gifted me that morning & a lace garter
It was important for me that there were white Roses in the bouquet and the buttonholes. For the bouquets and the bridal bouquet, I wanted a mix of purples to offset the theme and greenery.
We had a rustic style with purple as the main colour. We had long pew style tables to give it that cosy sand romantic theme with purple sparkly table covers. There was a lot of wood décor on the tables. The ceiling was covered in fairy lights and the backdrop behind the Top Table was also fairy lights.
Our table centerpieces were round logs with glass vases with bouquets in them and wooden hearts saying “Love” “Mr” “Mrs” sprinkled around.
We wanted somewhere close to where Tarek proposed and somewhere near the beach & also not too far from where most guests will be travelling from.
We loved the terrace area with the wooden theme, which fitted with the rustic theme and the backdrop was amazing.
IT was key that our venue could do the vows and reception at the same place and also that the food was fantastic.
We chose a wide selection of food in a buffet style, mixing Greek cuisine and English, we also had a hot roast Gammon joint.
Desert was a selection of cakes and we cut our wedding cake up for people to enjoy too.
On our invites I included a link for guests to suggest a song which I then sent to my and from that he took inspiration form that. It was fantastic and the dancefloor was filled all night long. It was a mix of current music, 80’s and 70’s, Greek and some Lebanese as my husband is Lebanese
The best part of the day was honestly seeing everyone laugh and dance and really enjoy themselves, our real goal was to smile and enjoy the day with our loved ones and that is exactly what happened.
Yes, the wedding car for the groom was late, therefore making us late. Also we couldn’t find the confetti so we didn’t get those pictures which is sad but at the end of the day the day was still incredible.
We didn’t experience any problems, we had our goal wedding in mind and just worked with people that wanted to help us achieve that inside our budget. I guess finding the right person/ People/ vendors is key
My Advice: Breathe, enjoy, have fun and on the actual day it goes so fast so take a second to look around and take a mental picture
