Lorna,28, our Issue 2016-2017 Cover Bride, & Ryan,27, Lockwood, married at the Nissi Beach Resort, Ayia Napa on the 6th September 2016.

We met at college 10 years ago where we both studied Graphic Design. Being in the same profession meant that we were applying for similar jobs. At one point we were even competing for the same job and I (Lorna) got it! Our degrees came in useful as we designed our own Wedding Invitations and place card names.

My dress was totally not what I was looking for. Although as soon as I saw it I knew I loved it. The sweetheart strapless bodice was a gorgeous ivory lace, with a full nude skirt by Essence of Australia. The buttons went the entire length of the dress and a pretty ribbon & bow finished it off perfectly.

Sadly one of my nan’s couldn’t make it to the Wedding, so I pinned a piece of her jewellery to my bouquet. My great nan’s Wedding ring was my something ‘old’ and ‘borrowed’. My ‘new’ was my shoes and my dress, and ‘blue’ was my mum’s garter from when she got married.

Ryan wore a light blue suit, crisp white shirt and green tie to match our theme, finished off with a brown leather belt and shoe combination. We didn’t have a strict dress code as we wanted everyone to feel comfortable and relaxed, so we gave the best men (Ryan had two) free reign. Ryan couldn’t decide between his two childhood friends Lewis and Danny – so they both got the job!

We had a ‘Wedding Planning Holiday’ the year before and visited lots of locations, with the lovely ladies at Aphrodite. Although we liked them all [venues] there was something holding me back. We eventually decided on the Nissi Beach Resort once we had got home, purely from recommendations and photos, as this wasn’t one of the places we viewed. The grounds looked stunning.

I love flowers, so I chose all [of] my favourites for my bouquet. Hydrangeas, roses, lisianthus, gypsophilia and olive. In white and blush to match my dress with olive to keep with the Grecian theme.

For our favours, we did small bottles of prosecco with a straw tied with ivory ribbon. They were organised by Aphrodite a week before the wedding as I wasn’t going to do favours, but at [the] last minute [I] changed my mind as they looked so cute. Aphrodite did a great job at adapting to our needs.

The best part of the day was the whole day, it was amazing. It would be hard for me to choose one. Walking down the aisle, sunset at the Thalassa and the speeches are some of the highlights.

My Advice: We booked our Wedding through Aphrodite Wedding Services who made things really easy, and booked our holiday separately. I would recommend doing this over booking a package through a travel agent.
