Joanna, 34, & Peter Papacostas, 35, married at Neo Chorio Church (Ayios Minas) on the 29th May 2016.
We went on a morning hike to the top of the Akamas Mountains. When we got to the top, I turned around to admire the view [and] Peter was on one knee proposing! The ring was beautiful and absolutely perfect.
We always walked past the church on our morning walks as we have a house in Neo Chorio. I [had] always hinted that it would be a beautiful place to get married. We loved the rustic nature of the church and the old village. We chose the Anassa [for our reception] after I went there ten years ago with my family and fell in love with the hotel. I found out at the Wedding that Peter had [already] decided, after the first time we went there together – that this is where we were going to get married. The views from the terrace and the village square’s atmosphere are incredible.
Peter and his best men went from the hotel to the church in a traditional Greek bus, which I [had] organised as a surprise. He was glad I didn’t book him a donkey!
Our first dance was Ruby Love by Cat Stevens. We both grew up listening to Cat Stevens, we loved this song and it was perfect as it had a Greek Bouzouki and Greek lyrics along with English so [we] thought it worked very well.
Every single part of [the Wedding day] was incredible. There was absolutely nothing we would have changed!
My advice: Make sure you are organised, so [that] you do not stress, as everything comes together on the day.
