Carly, 33, and Chris Hume, 40, married at the Olympic Lagoon Resort in Ayia Napa on the 9th May 2017.
We have been together 11 years and got engaged after 8 years, we have two children aged 6 & 3. Chris proposed to me on the morning of Christmas Day by giving the ring to my toddler who toddled out with it!
My dress was an Ivory full length fish tail style with a sweetheart neckline, a belt around the middle with a bling pendant.
I wore a necklace that Chris gave to me on the morning of the Wedding, a bracelet, and matching drop earrings. As well as a family ring that had been passed down the family, a head piece in my hair and a cathedral length veil.
In 2010 we went on holiday whilst I was pregnant with our first child to Cyprus and stayed at the Olympic Lagoon Resort in Ayia Napa. We fell in love with the hotel and knew that one day we would like to get married there. The year after, it had a big revamp so we just knew it would be even better, so we knew it was the place for us.
We booked just over two years before, we went back to Cyprus on holiday to go back and have another look around the hotel, we still felt it was the right venue so booked it up once we got back in the UK.
We picked a venue called the Captain’s Deck at the Olympic Lagoon Resort, to have our wedding meal and drinks, we had a BBQ buffet style meal as wanted a relaxing feel to it.
For our favours we had name stones so that people knew where they had to sit, wedding Yankee candles for the woman and shot glasses, and shots for all adults. The children had activity packs with colouring pens and stickers. We had fans given out to all the women at the gardens for the ceremony and sun glasses for all the guests to take on the wedding bus with them too.
Everything about it was perfect, the fact that we went to Cyprus was the best decision we made! The weather was fantastic and everyone felt so more relaxed. One big highlight was the wedding bus to which we had a champagne tour around Nissi Bay with music playing. We then stopped half way to have pictures at a old church with stunning sea views.
My advice: Do what you want to do not what others want you to do. So glad we went to Cyprus because as a couple that’s what we wanted to do. Make the most of the build up and enjoy the day it all goes so fast!
We spent 2 weeks in Cyprus so the second week was a honeymoon with our children and some family stayed as well then few months later me and Chris went to Portugal for a week to relax.
