Cover Girl Abby’s Romantic Wedding
Our 2015 Cover Bride Abby Smyth, 23-year-old Beautician, married husband Tim Rugman, 28, Service Engineer on the 30th June 2014 at The Olympic Lagoon Hotel, Ayia Napa.
“Tim and I met through my brother Nick, they were old school friends. One night they were out together in a bar and me & a friend went to meet my brother, then Tim and I got talking and we sparked straight away! He asked me to the cinema, we watched the film I Am Legend starring Will Smith and that was our first date.. We have now been together 7 years and married for 4 months!
Tim proposed to me on his birthday 28th October, we went to Rome for the weekend for our birthdays as mine is 3 days after his. He took me to the famous Trevi
fountain where [he] proposed with a
beautiful white gold ring with Canadian ice diamond, it’s very dainty exactly what I would have chosen for myself. It was a complete surprise, usually I know when he is up to something but he kept it very quiet!”
“My dress was a Mori Lee by Madeline Gardner dress it was a sweetheart neck very fitted at the top and from the bottom of my hip it floated down with a beautiful train. It had pearls and diamonds along the neckline and more on one side. The material was silky and when the sun shone on it, [it] made it really stand out and
sparkle. The back had pearls and
diamonds either side of the lace up back. I didn’t believe it when people said when you know it’s the dress you just know until I tried my dress on and I had that exact feeling!
I wore a silver head band, on one side of the head band it had the pearls and
diamonds that matched my dress and small white flowers. I also wore a
Pandora bangle that Tim had gave me on the morning of the wedding [and] another bracelet on the other arm and a pair of my mum’s earrings.
The groom wore navy trousers with black shoes, a white long sleeve shirt and an ivory waistcoat with a swirly pattern on the front.”
“My 4 bridesmaids wore long coral dresses with one strap, with flowers going across the strap and my little flower girl Isla wore a white Ted Baker dress with roses all over it – she looked adorable!
What was your first dance? John Legend – You and I
“For mine and the bridesmaids bouquet[‘s] we had white with yellow centre plumeria flowers with coral roses and the groomsmen had coral rose button holes. We chose the coral roses to go with the bridesmaid dresses and I have always loved plumeria flowers, so [I] had those placed between the roses, they looked lovely. ”
“The whole day was perfect, we would not have changed any of it, it was better than I could of ever imagined, it was really relaxed not stressful at all, the staff were one step ahead of everything. There was more than one best part of the day for me I enjoyed all of it from waking up and getting ready with my bridesmaids and my mum, my dad seeing me for the first time, seeing Tim waiting at the alter for me as I walked down with my dad and after the ceremony we went off with the photographers for a location shoot where we stood on cliffs looking over the sea it felt too good to be true. And then a party in the evening with all of our favourite people!”
Is there anything you learned that you think is an important tip for future wedding couples?
Just to enjoy every minute of it as the day goes so fast, find time together to sit and look around and take it all in.
